A fight between two champions. Ivan Buchinger will enter the fight as the defending champion, Losene Keita as the interim champion who wants to become the regular title holder. A well-deserved main event in a very important tournament for the Octagon
Buchinger has had a great career. He’s been champion of several organizations, has had countless tough fights, and his 39:7 record says it all. His specialty is wrestling on the ground, however, in his last tough bout with Vojta Barborik he showed great progression in his stand-up.
Keita is the big discovery of the Octagon for a change. He surprised everyone with his performance against Karol Rysavy, whom he finished very quickly. His speed, pressure and dynamics were amazing. It was obvious that this is an interesting prospect.
Keita immediately asked for a fight with Buchinger, but before that he had a fight with Ronny Paradeiser. He was supposed to check him out, which he did. However, it was Keita who dominated the five-round battle, although Paradeiser had the upper hand, especially in the beginning.
And what to expect from the fight between Buchinger and Keita? It’s obvious. Buchinger will want to take the fight to the ground quickly, he has virtually no reason to keep the fight standing. And even though Keita claims to have better wrestling than the Slovakian legend, he certainly won’t want to prove it and will try to keep the fight standing.
It may be a bit of a gamble, however, it’s a much more worthwhile bet for Buchinger to win on a submission.
