On Thursday we will see the first women’s title fight in the Octagon! Tereza Bledá can become the youngest ever champion in the history of the organization, her opponent will be Mabelly Lima. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Tereza Bledá has come into the world of professional MMA like a big water. At the age of 19, she has 4 wins to her name, and in Underground tournaments with modified rules she managed to defeat Lucie Pudilova, Magda Šormová and Lucie Szabová. For her age, she has done a lot.
But she still hasn’t fulfilled her dream. But now she can get very close to it. Pale wants to become the youngest fighter in UFC history and she doesn’t have much time left. And what better way to draw attention to herself than by winning a title at 19?
The fact that she’ll have a really interesting opponent may help. Mabelly Lima is more experienced than Pale, plus she has a great 9-1 record. Her only loss came in front of the UFC boss on his show. Her conqueror now has a 3-1 record in the UFC.
So for Bleda, this fight is not just a title fight in the Octagon, but also a fight to help make her dream come true. However, it won’t be easy for her, even though according to the bookmakers, she is the clear favorite.
The low odds for the Czech fighter to win are very surprising. It may be an advantage for Bleda that her opponent is more of a ground fighter, so she will want to take the fight to the ground. Moreover, she herself has been moving steadily, she has improved her stance a lot, which certainly cannot be said to be zero anymore.
So far, however, Pale hasn’t had a chance to show how well she can defend takedown attempts, nor the submission. It’s possible she’ll try to stay in the stance instead.
The Brazilian may have the advantage if the fight ends on points. Pale is not used to long fights, in fact she has ended all of them early.
A bet on Bleda, even though she is probably the rightful favourite, may be risky. We can expect a cautious start to the fight, with the caveat that it should definitely not end in the first round. If the match is stopped early, it will not happen before the third round.
