Newcastle have a big problem! After Greenwood, the new $45million signing Gordon seems to be in trouble with the law
Newcastle’s new star signing, for whom the club paid €45.6 million to Everton a few days ago, will now face the law. Anthony Gordon was spotted driving his Mercedes. This in itself would not be a big deal, however, the talented footballer was given a six-month driving ban by the police a few days ago.
The talented 21-year-old English winger left the sinking Everton ship mid-season and headed to the burgeoning Magpies project, for whom he even made a 21-minute appearance on the pitch on Saturday.
Gordon notched one shot in the game against the Hammers, but did not help the team to victory, leaving Newcastle with just a point, while they moved up to 4th place due to Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace.
However, when the author of 3 league goals this season will get a chance again is not quite certain. The Sun newspaper published photos of the England winger leaving training in a car on Wednesday, while on Monday he was banned from driving for 6 months.
This offence means that he could face 6 months in jail, according to the English newspaper.
English clubs treat these transgressions with great seriousness, though of course it usually ends up with the players paying a hefty fine and all is forgotten.
In the Isles, however, these problems are becoming more and more common, with very young footballers being paid huge sums of money, which often seems to give them the impression that they can afford everything because they are earning so much.
Tremendous English talent then unnecessarily hampers their careers, as Mason Greenwood, who faced charges of raping and assaulting a girl, could tell you. In this case, however, the offence is far more serious and his future at Manchester United will now be addressed, with a statement still awaited.
“As is standard practice, we do not confirm or deny the identity of anyone who may or may not be part of a police investigation and who has not been charged with an offence,” the police told The Sun.
The club, which faces its next game on February 11 against Bournemouth, has not yet commented on the situation.
