Who will take over the Chelsea coaching job from next season? That is a question that should be answered shortly. Mauricio Pochettino is now the best candidate for the job.
Chelsea of London are not having a season they would like to remember. Despite billions of dollars of investment by the new management, it is languishing in mid-table and has already replaced three coaches in the current season.
Thomas Tuchel started the season on the bench of The Blues. He was recalled after a few games and replaced by Graham Potter, who lasted 206 days on the London bench.
The hiring of the English coach was supposed to be one of the first steps of the new Chelsea management to renew the club and set a new long-standing vision, which Potter was to be part of.
The club promised him plenty of time and, above all, huge financial opportunities. In light of the club’ s investment and lacklustre results, he was removed and replaced by Frank Lampard by the end of the season.
The new coach
Former midfielder and club legend, Frank Lampard, is only a temporary solution. The club’s management is working hard to bring in a new coach with whom they will get along and whose vision will match theirs.
After Julian Nagelsmann was dismissed from Bayern Munich, he was the frontrunner for the job. However, after several meetings, he decided not to pursue the position.
Following a decision by the club’s management, Luis Enrique also dropped out of the running and Mauricio Pochettino became the number one priority.
It seems that the history associated with the hated Tottenham is not an obstacle for Chelsea and a final decision should be made this week.
More face-to-face meetings are now planned. Vincent Kompany is also next on the list of candidates, but he is not a priority for now.
