Fleury got the win in overtime
The game between Columbus and Minnesota was decided in overtime. Canadian goaltender Marc-André Fleury got his 551st win after several unlucky defeats. He had three goals in the game and his save percentage was below 90 percent.
However, at 63:05, Minnesota forward Marco Rossi scored the winning goal and Fleury was able to celebrate. He tied the legend Patrick Roy for second place in the history charts in the number of regular season wins.
Only Martin Brodeur is ahead of him. However, 691 game wins, given the age of the Canadian goalie Fleury, it is a pure utopia that he would threaten this record. Fleury made one really great save in overtime.
“You know what? I was happy that we won today. We didn’t do very well. We were missing a few guys. Of course we need points for the table. It’s an honour to catch Patrick Roy, of course! He’s a player I looked up to when I was growing up. But now I’m especially happy that I helped the guys win,” Fleury said after the game.
Fleury has an NHL record of 551-323-91 and two ties in 1,003 games (975 starts) for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks and Wild. He has the most shootout wins in NHL history (65). He has won a total of three Stanley Cups and has two personal trophies on display at home, one Vezina Trophy and one William M. Jennings Trophy.
Sharks extend losing streak
The San Jose Sharks fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs (1: 4) at home this time. The Canadian team took the lead in the 16th minute of the first period and then controlled the game. The central figure of the Maple Leafs was William Nylander who scored two goals and assisted on one more.
Hronek broke the 30-point mark for the third time in his career in the regular season
Filip Hronek scored another point after a five-game break in the New Jersey Devils’ game against the Vancouver Canucks (4:6). This time he assisted on his team’s opening goal. It was his 30th point of the season. It was the third time in the NHL that he reached that mark.
After 39 games played, he has 2 goals and 28 assists. He remains the second most productive Czech player in the NHL after David Pastrnak. He can still think about surpassing his high from last season, when he scored 39 points. He still has half a season to reach that mark.
He is now 11th in defenseman scoring. His defensive linemate Quinn Hughes even recorded three assists in the game and returned to the top spot in quarterback scoring. He holds a three-point lead over Cal Macar of Colorado. Hughes has 49 points in 39 games played.
