Liverpool attempted a small sporting miracle last night to reverse the loss to Real Madrid. The English side failed to do so and are out of the Champions League. Liverpool’s right back, Jamie Carragher, is also receiving a lot of criticism.

Real Madrid didn’t allow any surprises in yesterday’s game, protecting their comfortable lead from the first encounter and advancing to the next stage of the Champions League. Liverpool are now outside the quarter-final gates.

Despite the fact that the match offered only one goal, it was played at a great pace and the fans were certainly not bored.

One would have expected Liverpool to be the more offensive team and put the home team under much more pressure. However, Real Madrid were more dangerous and more than once the English club had to be saved by goalkeeper Alisson.

The right side of the defence was also getting a lot of work, with English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold operating there. The White Ballet players were literally having a good day.

This is evidenced by the statistics from yesterday’s game, which show that no other player has made so many successful dribbles this game week. Six of them, to be exact.

Jamie Carragher was also very unhappy with his performance, and he spared no criticism after the 2-6 loss. The former defender is demanding that Liverpool sign a new right-back to increase competition on the right side of the pitch

“Itcan’t go on like this. What has happened to him this season and how many times he has made mistakes defensively. The problem is they never had any real competition for him in that position,” he said in the post-match studio.

Liverpool are in a situation where they need to buy a new right-back. It’s Klopp’s decision, but the lad needs competition,” the former defender continued.

However, Carragher went on to say that he has huge respect for the player because he has been playing at the highest level for five years without a rest and has won everything he can for the club.
