Liverpool lost points in the first round and Klopp was looking for bizarre excuses. Fulham supposedly have a dry pitch
The Premier League is officially back with everything. Liverpool dropped points in the first round at Fulham and coach Jürgen Klopp once again proved he has a knack for finding interesting reasons why his team failed to win.

Friday marked the start of the new Premier League season. Arsenal beat Crystal Palace in the first game of the season. Saturday’s programme opened with a match between newcomer Fulham and runners-up Liverpool.
Liverpool were the big favourites and the game looked like that at times. However, Jürgen Klopp’s charges didn’t really get the result. Aleksandar Mitrovic, last season’s top scorer in the second league, scored twice.
Mohamed Salah and new signing Darwin Nunez also scored for the Reds. The match ended in a scoreless draw, with the scoreboard showing 2:2 at the final whistle.
When the coach of the visiting team was asked to comment in the post-match interview, he was quite clear about what was behind the failure of his team.
“The best thing about our whole game is the result. It was a really bad game. How could it happen? We didn’t have the right attitude in the beginning. We tried to respond after 15 minutes. The pitch was dry and all that. It was really difficult,” Klopp said in an interview with BT Sport.
It must be mentioned that if anyone has a knack for finding interesting reasons for failure, it is the German stormtrooper. In the past he has complained about snow, wind, heat or the absence of spectators. On one occasion he even accused BT Sport of ordering an early exit.
Liverpool will be able to make amends for their hesitation next week at home against Crystal Palace. In the third round, Manchester United come to Anfield.
