Liverpool have blown Tottenham away with the Colombian star from Porto!
Colombian striker Luis Diaz has won a new contract and is moving to the Premier League! Spurs were interested in him, but he signed with Liverpool.
Colombia’s Luís Diaz gets a new deal and moves to the Premier League! Tottenham were interested in him, but he signed a contract with Liverpool.
The last Sunday in January is the day Liverpool FC will announce the arrival of Luís Diaz from Porto. The transfer fee for the 25-year-old is expected to be around £45 million, with a contract of five and a half years.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Luís Diaz has successfully passed his medical tests. These took place in Argentina, where Diaz is now staying with the Colombian national team ahead of Tuesday’s qualifying match against the national team there.
Diaz, who plays as an outside midfielder or winger for Porto, has been linked mainly with Tottenham in the current transfer window. Diaz was on Liverpool’s radar back in the summer and the Beatles club would certainly not want to lose him. Due to the interest of the Reds’ rivals, Jürgen Klopp has thus accelerated his efforts to bring the player to Anfield Road.
What does Diaz have to offer in his new position? A lot. He has scored 14 goals and made 162 touches with the ball in the opposition’s penalty area so far this season in the Portuguese top flight. In both statistics, he is the best of any player in the competition. He is also at the top of the stats in terms of balls won in the attacking third of the pitch or the number of successful passes in that part of the pitch.
“I couldn’t be happier that we managed to complete the arrival of Luis Diaz. He’s a player hungry for success, a fighter who knows he has to sacrifice to succeed. Diaz is a team player and a gifted goalscorer,” coach Klopp told Liverpool’s website.
Let’s see how successful he will be after his move to the British Isles!
