Jürgen Klopp announced his end at Liverpool some time ago. He was associated with the team for many years, but the time has come for a change and especially for a well-deserved rest. Since then, there has been speculation about a replacement.
First there was talk of Xabi Alonso, but he made it clear that he wants to stay at Leverkusen for at least one more season. Apparently, the option of Ruben Amorim, who recently held talks with West Ham as well, didn’t work out either.
Slot is heading to Liverpool
A few days ago, the British media started speculating that Arne Slot, who did an excellent job at Feyenoord and is ready for the next step, will become Liverpool’s new coach.
And now those speculations are being taken as real, according to many respected journalists it is a done deal and Slot will move to the club that coached Prague Sparta twice in the spring this summer.
Feyenoord have the coach under contract, so Liverpool must pay for Slot. Currently, the most talked about sum is 11 million euros, but it is not sure whether the amount includes bonuses or not.
“You will have the best job in the world, the best club in the world,” Klopp told Slota, who is no longer in doubt about the new coach. As it happens, the coach may pull some players from his former club.
Slovakian midfielder Dávid Hancko, who has had two fantastic seasons at Feyenoord and is being watched by elite teams, could be a hot candidate. In addition, Liverpool could be ideal for him.
