The Premier League has completed its opening 5 rounds and Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are leading the way with 13 points. However, there is one rarity with the former two. Both teams have exactly identical results in each round and thus have identical 12:1 scores.

It seems almost unbelievable. In five games, five times the same result. Let’s start first with The Blues, who are considered the favourites for the Premier League this season. Thomas Tuchel’s charges started the season with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Crystal Palace. After winning the Super Cup, it was a sovereign start to the season.

After a 2:0 win in another London derby against Arsenal, the Blues suffered their only loss of the season in a draw with Liverpool. This match was full of emotion, saw a red card for handball on the goal line from Reece James, and so was eventually ended amicably after goals from Havertz and Salah.

Since that draw, Chelsea players have notched up two clear wins by a ratio of 3: 0. The strength of Tuchel’s charges was first recognized by Aston Villa, then on Sunday Tottenham scored 3 goals. The key factor of Chelsea’s game is the variety of scorers, as only Romelu Lukaku has more than 1 goal scored.

Liverpool have had a slightly easier draw to start the season, with wins of 3: 0 and 2: 0 recorded by Jürgen Klopp’s charges over Norwich and Burnley respectively. Everything has been said above about the third game of the season, so let’s move on.

Liverpool’s other 3-0 wins, interspersed with a Champions League shootout win against AC Milan, have come against Leeds and Crystal Palace. Unlike Chelsea, the Reds are being driven to score goals by two players in particular. Mohamed Salah has 4 accurate shots, while his African teammate Sadio Mane has 3.

How long this almost unique streak will continue remains a mystery now. Chelsea await Aston Villa, Liverpool Brentford in their next game. But even if Round 6 has already brought a split, this is certainly an interesting moment in football history.
