Lebron James once again proved that he is the best
Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers (144:145) was a breathtaking spectacle, with the game being decided after the second overtime! Even at 39 years old, the ageless Lebron James is still proving that time is just a number!
Against his arch-rival Golden State, he had one of the best games of his career. The rivalry stems from his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, when James himself took Cleveland to the NBA Finals four years in a row, each time facing the Warriors in the Finals and going home defeated three times.
In this game, he broke out to one of the best performances of his career. He spent an incredible 48 minutes on the floor at his age! The game went to two overtimes and James notched his third triple-double of the season and the 110th of his career overall.
He scored a total of 36 points while dishing out 12 accurate assists to his teammates. However, he also set a new personal best in rebounds with 20. This personal best came in his 1463rd regular season game. He really proves that age is just a number in his case.
Even at 39, he’s still the best
No one in NBA history at 39 has put up numbers like Lebron James. In his 21st season, he is averaging 25 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and 7.6 assists in the approximately 34.5 minutes per game he spends on the floor. Those are absolutely incredible numbers to see as a legend of the game!
James was traditionally followed by teammates Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell, who added another 57 points. On the Warriors’ side, Stephen Curry gave a great performance , who scored 46 points and the best three-pointer in history made 9 more threes in the game. He has already scored 187 this season, while second-ranked Luka Doncic has 35 fewer.
The Lakers led by 5 points at halftime, but the score spilled over to both sides during the third quarter. It resulted in a 118:118 tie. The game was decided in the second overtime, which was decided by James himself. He converted two free throws with one second to go to give the final score to the Lakers.
The Lakers thus scored a very important victory and for James all the more important because it was the team from San Francisco. They are now in the green numbers with a 24-23 record, while the Warriors’ playoff vision is slowly receding with a 19-24 record they are obviously out of the rungs that ensure participation in the title fight.
