Klopp wrote off the journalists: You’re not in shape and I don’t have the nerve!
Liverpool were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by Manchester United, which the Reds probably didn’t expect. And neither did Jurgen Klopp, who rather pointedly wrote off journalists during his post-match interview.

Liverpool, meanwhile, were in good spirits. On Thursday, they had downed Sparta Prague 6-1 and drew with Manchester City, so they went to Old Trafford as a big favourite.
But in the tenth minute the visitors got a shock when Scott McTominay opened the scoring. Liverpool, however, came out firing and started a big run at the end of the half. Enda’s 38th minute goal was still called back by VAR, but Alexis Mac Allister equalised in the 44th minute and Mohamed Salah overturned the scoreline in the next minute.
Just when it looked like the Reds would clinch a place in the semi-finals, Antony equalised in the 87th minute. Extra time offered a thrilling spectacle too. Elliot’s 105th minute goal was answered by Rashford seven minutes later and Diallo made the final 4-3 in stoppage time.
Klopp was very upset by the defeat and, as he says himself, he is slowly losing energy. Everything was adding up in his head and he took his anger out on the Sport1 reporter during the post-match interview.
I don’t have the nerve, said Klopp
“You are characterized by great intensity in matches, so why was it so difficult for you in overtime?” the reporter asked. “A bit of a stupid question…,” Klopp quipped. “When you see how many games we played last time… Now, I don’t know exactly how many games United have played, but it’s sport. I’m a bit disappointed with your question, but you thought it was a good one,” the Liverpool coach added.
“So too many games…, ” the reporter wanted to continue, whereupon Klopp interrupted him. “Oh, you don’t think so. You’re obviously not in good shape and I don’t have the nerve, ” Klopp said as he left the press area.
Liverpool will not add another domestic trophy after winning the EFL Cup. But it remains in contention for the Premier League and Europa League. Moreover, the Reds will have a chance to avenge their Premier League defeat to Manchester United in early April.
