The winter transfer period is fast approaching and we can expect some interesting transfer chess. However, possible transfers may be affected by the coronavirus vaccination for some clubs. At least Liverpool will probably only engage vaccinated players.
One interesting factor may influence the transfer strategies of some clubs in the winter. Coronavirus vaccination. Especially in England, this topic is now very much on the table.
Of the top five European leagues, the Premier League has the lowest vaccination rate, and it is the only one of the competitions where matches are postponed in large numbers because of outbreaks.
Only four matches in England’s top competition were played at the weekend, six of which had to be postponed.
That is why coach Jürgen Klopp has indicated that Liverpool may not want to bring in players in the winter who have not had two doses of vaccinations.
“I think it will definitely affect who we sign. If a player is not vaccinated at all, he is still a threat to us all, even if he doesn’t want to be. From an organisational point of view it’s complicated,” the German coach expressed.
He said the club would have to find different scenarios, an unvaccinated player would have to change in a different dressing room, eat in a different canteen, sit in a different bus or car. In short, complicated protocols would have to be followed.
In addition, one has to take into account that European cups are being played. An unvaccinated footballer would then have to go into isolation when leaving England.
While Klopp is sympathetic to the unvaccinated, he does not want to take any risks.
