Kimmich denies transfer speculation: I’m happy at Bayern
Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move away from the Munich big club in recent weeks. The constant reason for this speculation is the situation at the club, both sportingly and humanly. However, Bayern Munich certainly don’t want to lose a leader or a player who dictates the pace of the game.
Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move away from the Munich big club in recent weeks. The constant reason for this speculation is the situation at the club, both sportingly and humanly. However, Bayern Munich certainly don’t want to lose a leader or a player who dictates the pace of the game.
Bayern’s situation
Over the last few weeks, the situation surrounding Thomas Tuchel has been resolved. The German manager will end up on the Bayern bench after the season, regardless of the outcome of a season that is already one of the worst in the new century if not in the entire history of the club.
Tuchel’s immediate sacking was also in play ahead of the rematch with Lazio. Bayern, however, handled the duel flawlessly and advanced and Tuchel stayed on. The summer departure of the current Bayern coach is linked to the situation of some players.
Mathijs de Ligt is not starting as often as he would like. Tuchel prefers Dayot Upamecan and Korean stopper Kim. Upamecano has made several claims that he is capable of making unacceptable mistakes, the Dutchman certainly has more quality.
Joshua Kimmich was even supposed to have a personal conflict with Bayern’s implementation team. The German is not used to losing so many games, he has an elite mentality and wants to win every game. Kimmich’s non-commitment to the Leverkusen game might cost Bayern the title.
The situation in the team has calmed down slightly with the last few games. The aforementioned win against Lazio put Bayern into the Champions League quarterfinals, where no one can write off the German club in advance. In the Bundesliga, Bayern’s last match was an 8-1 win over second-to-last-placed Mainz, helped by a hat-trick from Harry Kane. The gap to leaders Leverkusen remains large.
Kimmich at Bayern
Kimmich transferred to Bayern in the summer of 2015 for just €8.5 million from Stuttgart. At that time, Pep Guardiola was the boss at Bayern. Even with his sympathy for the former right-back, Guardiola did not and continues not to give up on Kimmich. He has made Kimmich a central midfielder who is the heart of the team.
This season is the 9th for the German in the jersey of the most successful German team. During his 9 years with the club, he has won every trophy possible. From the German Cup to the Champions League and the World Club Championship. In the last few games Kimmich has been starting again at right-back, but prefers to play in the centre of the pitch himself. Even deploying in this position leads to transfer speculation.
Transfer speculation
Immediately after the conflict with the implementation team the first transfer speculations came. Guardiola would certainly be interested again, this time from Manchester City. Several other elite European clubs would surely get in on the game for the German player. So Kimmich would certainly have no shortage of choices.
But Kimmich refutes everything: “I am happy at Bayern. I have a contract until 2025, I will show my best and then we will see what happens.” So it seems certain that the German will not leave Bayern at least until the end of his current contract. Of course, things change quickly in football and one can never be sure of anything.
