Karlos Vémola and Aleksandar Ilic will fight for the Octagon welterweight title on Saturday night. The favorite is clear, but it’s still MMA. It may be decided by a “lucky punch”. What to expect from the fight and what to bet on?

OKTAGON 34 is here. On Saturday we will see the most beautiful tournament of the year. The headliner is the title match between the Terminator and the Joker. It’s obvious from the odds that Karlos Vémola is the favourite.

Vemola is favored by many people, including some Oktagon fighters. The reason is simple. He will be tougher in the match and his wrestling is so great that it’s hard to stop him from getting a takedown. Especially if his opponent is not a groundskeeper, but a standup guy.

Ilic has fought mainly at middleweight in his career, so he’ll have a weight deficit that will be felt. During his time in KSW, he has shown that he is definitely no slouch on the ground.

So Ilitch’s best chance is at the start of the first round, or the second. After that, whenever Vémola takes him to the ground, his strength will only diminish and he will gradually stop being dangerous in the stance.

So the prediction is clear. The match will definitely not end on points. Vémola is getting more and more technical on the ground, relying less and less on power. Moreover, Ilic won’t have a very good defense, so it won’t be that hard to tighten him up for a submission.

The most worth noting is that the Terminator might want to beat the Joker up for his behavior. So he wouldn’t have to rush for a quick ending. Either way, the fight shouldn’t go to the third round.

Ilitch’s only chance is to try and hit Vemola as quickly as possible. He’s got good movement, so he shouldn’t be under Vemola within seconds of the fight starting. He’s got good high kicks and he’s definitely got a KO punch.

Of course, it’s possible that he’s been practicing a submission in preparation that he could potentially want to catch Vemola on. Not likely, though.

So the sure thing in this case is mainly a bet on the rounds. The fight will definitely not end on points.
