Liverpool would love to sign Jude Bellingham but a transfer seems out of reach. Jurgen Klopp has denied speculation that Liverpool could sign him this year because the Borussia Dortmund star is “not on the market”.

Liverpool have long known that their holy trinity cannot play forever. Roberto Firmino’s future is a big unknown. He played 31 games last season but rarely played a full game because he was injured five times. The Reds have already found a replacement in Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Sadio Mane may have left the club, but Liverpool acquired Luis Diaz for him in the winter.

Mohamed Salah has finally committed to a new contract, meaning he will stay, while Diogo Jota has offered enough in two seasons to suggest he could become another superstar at Anfield.

The Reds present and future looks rosy in the attacking department, where will Jurgen Klopp turn next? Midfield would be a logical place to start, as Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner have already crossed the 30 mark.

The solution could just be BVB’s young Englishman Jude Belligham. Liverpool are big admirers of him, but he is far from the only one.

In addition to Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Liverpool are believed to be at the head of the queue for the England international.

The chances of a deal in the summer are probably slim, as Dortmund want to keep the England international for at least another season.

However, the Reds coach has defended his current options in midfield and said that he does not understand why it is being suggested that the club needs to strengthen in that area.

“He is not on the market, so that is the first problem with this player,” Klopp said.

Asked if Liverpool were even looking at a midfield deal, whether for Bellingham or anyone else, Klopp added: ” No, I can say that

“I don’t think anything will happen in midfield, but you never know. If someone comes to you and says, ‘I want to leave’, then…”

“Nobody has come to me yet – but if that happens, then we have to talk about something new.”

Klopp continues to back youngsters Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and new arrival Fabio Carvalho to prove their quality. He also hinted that there may be a change in formation at Anfield, with a new 4-2-3-1 system likely to be trialled during pre-season.
