Jurgen Klopp has places to take, Liverpool’s reserves are brimming with talent, who should be the future of the Reds?
At Anfield Road, they can wash their hands of how promising a group of players they have growing up and the popular coach Klopp definitely has somewhere to go if someone from the A-team gets injured.
At Anfield Road, they can wash their hands of how promising a group of players they have growing up and the popular coach Klopp definitely has somewhere to go if someone from the A-team gets injured. Following in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot, they can fight for their place in the first team and try to force the minutes they need. What kind of names are they?
Kaide Gordon
The 17-year-old winger is one of the more familiar names. He has already managed to train with Klopp’s squad and make his league debut during the course of last season, including his debut FA Cup intervention.
Creativity on the ball and great finishing adorn the former Derby County player. Probably the academy’s brightest star at the moment.
Tyler Morton
Even midfielder Morton racked up some minutes in A-team games last season. The lanky midfielder has been at the club since he was seven, so no one has to explain to him what it means to have Liverpool DNA in his blood. The 19-year-old has all the tools to become an excellent box to box midfielder.
Stefan Bajcetic
The Spanish Under-18 international arrived under Liverpool’s wing last year from Celta Vigo. His versatility means he can play at stopper and in midfield and he also managed to showcase some of his skills to the fans at Anfield last season. Great reading of the game and reigning in the air are the youngster’s strongest assets.
Oakley Cannonier
It’s hard to overlook a footballer who scores 28 goals in a season like Cannonier did in the 2021/22 U18 Premier League.
The Leeds native is lethal in and around the whitewash for opponents. For a winger of smaller stature, the big man has a fabulous finish with both feet and his 40 goals in all competitions last year will be testament to that.
Bobby Clark
The former Newcastle player also moved to Liverpool last summer. However, he is doing well on Merseyside and has put in very promising performances in both the U18 and U23 competitions. The tireless worker usually operates on the left side of the attacking formation but has no trouble coping in the middle. Worth watching.
Luke Chambers
The U18 captain is a leader on the pitch and in the locker room. Plays above standard at left-back and at stopper. Enjoys one-on-one battles, which he excels at. With his magic in his left foot, the skilful full-back could replace Andy Robertson in the first team in the future.
Marcelo Pitaluga
The Brazilian goalkeeper has already spent last season in the company of the A team as far as training is concerned. It seems more than clear that Liverpool will soon have a top goalkeeping duo from Brazil. The 19-year-old Alisson compatriot may well leave for match practice on loan, but his time should come.
