Jürgen Klopp: Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola… We’re all dinosaurs now. Who does he think stands out among young coaches and who would he recommend to Liverpool?
Liverpool have to deal with an unpleasant complication. Jürgen Klopp announced in January that this season would be his last at Anfield Road. What’s next? The Reds must look for his successor and one is being lined up. Even the German strategist himself has praised him.

The English Premier League has 24 league rounds under its belt and Liverpool are in first place ahead of the 25th duel in England’s top competition. He has a two-point lead over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
In addition, Jürgen Klopp will play his charges on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the unpleasant Brentford. The Reds have another test ahead of them and another step if they want to go for the title. This would, of course, be the best way for the German coach to say goodbye to his team.
In January, the former Borussia Dortmund or Mainz coach announced that he was quitting Liverpool after 9 long years. Fans have reason to mourn, the German has brought the club back to the limelight. However, his rival Pep Guardiola breathed a little sigh of relief as he admitted that he will sleep better.
It’s not clear what’s next. However, Jürgen Klopp himself says that he intends to take a break and that if he does return to coaching, it certainly won’t be in England. Liverpool must look for a replacement and one is being lined up. It could be a club legend. He would get Klopp’s blessing too.
Jürgen Klopp has a recommendation for Liverpool
He is not involved in any way in choosing a replacement for himself. However, when it was recently discussed who could take over Liverpool, the name of Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen’s pilot, was often mentioned. Jürgen Klopp would understandably approve of that.
Alonso is doing very well. From a team he took over in what looked like a tragic season, he has managed to build a team with which he has fought his way out of the relegation places in Europe and now dominates the Bundesliga.
“Xabi is doing an incredible job. Even if there was no speculation and you had asked me two months ago about his work, I would have just sighed. Me, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola… We’re already dinosaurs. We won’t be doing this job for another 20 years. Well, maybe Mourinho will,” the German joked .
“The new generation of coaches is already here and Xabi Alonso absolutely stands out among them. He was a top player, he comes from a coaching family. In fact, he was already such a coach when he was still playing. The football he promotes, the team he builds, the transfers he has made… It’s absolutely exceptional,” Jürgen Klopp continued.
The current Liverpool coach knows the Bundesliga well himself, having dominated it with Borussia Dortmund. That makes his admiration for Alonso all the greater.
“Against Bayern, his team was clearly better. That is very rare in Germany. When we beat Bayern with Dortmund, it was mainly thanks to good defending. We played on the counter-attack and relied on momentum. Leverkusen were clearly better. And Xabi has only been in charge for a short time and is building a young team,” he concluded.
