“The new generation of coaches is already here and Xabi Alonso absolutely stands out among them. He was a top player, he comes from a coaching family. The current Liverpool coach knows the Bundesliga well himself, having dominated it with Borussia Dortmund. That makes his admiration for Alonso all the greater.

“Against Bayern, his team was clearly better. That is very rare in Germany. When we beat Bayern with Dortmund, it was mainly thanks to good defending.
