Jorginho is leaving for Arsenal! Chelsea midfielder takes big signings and goes to fight for title

The South London to North London route is coming back to life. This time, Jorginho moves from Chelsea to Arsenal, having made a big purchase for the Blues. He’s coming to the Emirates Stadium to fight for the title.

Jorginho has been at Chelsea for four and a half seasons, but he won’t finish his fifth. On the last day of the winter transfer window, he will move to Arsenal, reports renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal will pay £12 million for the 31-year-old midfielder, the Italian footballer will sign a contract until 2024 with an option for another year.

It was a lightning move as Arsenal tried to acquire Moises Caicedo from Brighton, for whom they offered £70 million, but the south of England club refused. So the Gunners embarked on Plan B on Monday night and contacted Jorginho.

The Does are expected to undergo a medical and then they will officially conclude Jorginho’s arrival at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta, who Jorginho wants to work under, was supposed to be the main factor.

Thus, Arsenal gets the second midfield reinforcement in the winter transfer window. From Brighton came 28-year-old Leando Trossard, Jorginho will create competition to the Xhaka – Partey pair.

His best season was 2020/21, when he won the Champions League with Chelsea and the EURO with Italy. He then came third in the Ballon d’Or poll.

However, his performances dropped a bit and on top of that, Chelsea started a huge transfer merry-go-round and had to respond with some departures. And it got rid of Jorginho, who had been defending the Blues colours since 2018.
