Jankto played the whole game against Elche, but Getafe lost again and are still without a point. The fans are furious
Jakub Jankto could probably have imagined a better start to his new engagement in Getafe. 4 games, 4 losses, the Czech international has been in the last three. The last time Getafe lost at home to Elche, which the Azulones fans certainly didn’t count on.
Jakub Jankto could probably have imagined a better start to his new engagement in Getafe. 4 games, 4 losses, the Czech international has been in the last three. The last time Getafe lost at home to Elche, which the Azulones fans certainly didn’t count on.
In Monday’s match, Getafe welcomed Elche, traditionally one of the bottom teams in the Spanish La Liga, to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. So the home fans were counting on finally getting their spirits up after losses to Valencia, Sevilla and Barcelona.
However, the opposite was true. The home side with Jakub Jankt in the starting line-up put in a rather lacklustre performance, taking only one shot on target in the whole match and not creating many chances. Lucas Pérez put the nail in the coffin for the home team when he sent the visitors into the lead in the 69th minute.
The score was unchanged and Getafe lost 0:1. After four rounds, Getafe are now second to last in the table without a point and with a 1:5 record. On the other hand, it has to be said that Getafe had a tough draw, Sevilla, Barcelona and this year again Valencia will play at the top of the table.
However, against Elche, a point haul was expected, especially at home. And the Azulones fans are making that clear.
“Since I’ve been a Getafe fan, I’ve never seen such a weak team. This is terrible,” wrote an Azulones fan on Twitter.
“That was such a bloodless and boring performance. It was like the players didn’t even want to play,” raged another supporter of the team from the outskirts of Madrid.
“Getafe players can’t make a tackle or attack on the ground. They just kick it forward. How can we score from that? They’re playing appallingly. This must change immediately,” the fan reminded that Getafe’s style of play is quite unusual for a Spanish team.
But Jakub Jankto tried to encourage the fans by sending this message to the Azulones on his Instagram.
“Sometimes it’s like this. We all have to leave our skin on the pitch in the next matches. The season is long enough and we will change these results. Thank you to our fans,” Jankto wrote on Instagram.
