It’s done! 73 billion crowns is the amount for which Chelsea London was sold
When the conflict in Ukraine began a few weeks ago, one of the many question marks was hanging over Chelsea in London. Its previous owner was the Russian Roman Abramovich. The sanctions that were about to be imposed on the Russian businessman were to affect not only him, but also the club.

Perhaps the most famous, at least in football circles, of the Russian oligarchs has a history very closely linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
They helped each other out a lot in the early days, resulting in some strange purchases and subsequent sales back to the state for many times that amount. Later on, he became rather distant from Putin and had a big break with him.
For many weeks the club had very limited options. He was not allowed to sell or buy players, not even to extend the contracts of existing ones. The players and the whole management lived in great uncertainty and fear of the future.
But Abramovich said that he wanted to sell the club so that he could carry on, that he was happy to donate the money from the sale to charity and that he was only concerned that his beloved club should not suffer.
But even this scenario was not possible at first. Eventually, however, the sale was agreed and now a buyer has finally been found. A consortium led by Todd Boehly became the new owner after paying nearly 73 billion crowns.
Todd Boehly is an American entrepreneur, businessman, investor and philanthropist. He is not a newcomer to the sporting environment. He is also co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball club and the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.
Abramovich thus ended his 19-year long tenure at Chelsea. He reportedly bought the club in 2003 for £140 million. He has now sold it for £2.5 billion. Chelsea had their most successful years alongside him. He has 5 league titles, 5 English League Cups and 2 Champions League titles to his name in that period. Most of these successes were also witnessed by Petr Cech, who took up a job in the club’s management after his career ended.
