In recent weeks, there has been speculation in the British Isles about what will happen with Tomas Soucek. Manager David Moyes has reportedly been hesitant to upgrade and extend the contract for the Czech national team captain. What do the fans think? And what did Soucek himself post on social networking site Twitter?
Tomas Soucek is currently under contract until the end of the 2023/2024 season, which means he can stay in a West Ham jersey for another two years completely at ease. The burly defensive midfielder has reportedly been courted by the likes of Juventus, who could buy him out of West Ham.
According to Transfermarkt, the current value of Tomas Soucek is €45 million. However, if the current contract is improved, the Hammers could ask an even higher sum for their defensive midfielder. Moreover, the ex-England captain would not be lured away from England just like that.
The information about whether or not to improve Suk’s contract has also made West Ham fans jump out of their seats. Some supporters of the Hammers wrote on social media that they would be willing to sell the Czech international for a decent sum. However, a poll on one of the biggest fanpage on Twitter clearly showed what Soucek means to most of them.
The majority of fans want West Ham to keep Tomáš Souček at any cost. And no wonder, according to stats site WhoScored, Soucek was West Ham’s third best player in the 2021/2022 season.
His average rating on the prestigious site was 6.98! And what did Tomáš Souček himself share on social media?
“This season has been an incredible ride. I can’t even describe in words all the feelings and emotions we experienced on the court. Thank you for your support and loyalty during the games.”
