Is Klopp in danger of being sacked? We’re not far away from that discussion, thinks the former Liverpool player

The curse of the seventh year seems to be relevant again. It happened to Klopp at Mainz, and subsequently at Dortmund. He did a great job for six years, but things started to sour in his seventh season, until he finally left.
And a similar scenario is unfolding at Liverpool. The Reds are not doing well at all, they are already 14 points behind the top of the table, and with a possible loss to the Citizens at the weekend, it could be unattainable. In the Champions League they were beaten 1: 4 by Napoli, and Liverpool have one of the oldest squads in the league.
What about the German coach? Liverpool’s management has always been characterised by cool and thoughtful behaviour, giving their coaches the benefit of the doubt, not sacking them on the treadmill as happens at Chelsea, for example.
It’s just that the current crisis is quite a big one, and by the standards of recent years that fans are used to, it’s quite a shock. Even former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann is not completely sure about Klopp staying.
“It’s no different at Liverpool and if there are no results, the manager will be under pressure. If they lose to the Citizens, which now looks very likely, they would be nine points off fourth place,” Hamann assesses the current situation for talkSPORT.
“At some stage there will be a discussion about the coach and I’m not sure how far away we are from that. He keeps saying he’s the right man for the job but we see details like when Henderson pulled his armband off angrily against Rangers and shook his head during the substitutions. We haven’t seen that in the last 5 years at Liverpool. Maybe the players have problems in the team or directly with the coach,” thinks the former Reds defensive midfielder.
