Inter Milan managed to defend their one-goal lead from the Champions League semi-final at home and advanced to the top eight teams in Europe after a goalless draw. They survived three big chances in the end.

Porto started actively, Mateus Uribe tried his luck in the third minute, but the goalkeeper made a good save. Canadian Stephen Eustáquio also tried his luck from the edge of the box.

On the other side, the experienced Edin Džeko fired after a quick break, but only hit the middle of the net. After that, nothing happened for a long time. The Portuguese team was more active, but Inter didn’t let them do anything.

At the end of the first half, a hopeful shot by Evanilson was knocked down by defender Federico Dimarco for a corner kick. After a shot from right-back Pépé narrowly missed the back post, the game was scoreless.

After the change of sides, the home side were very active. Forward Galeno had the best of several chances, but from a direct kick just outside the box he hit the wall and Inter’s defence was able to deal with the rebound.

Again, however, that was it for a long time, and a 20-minute conquest followed without a shot attempt. It was only in the 75th minute that Marko Gjuric fired from the edge of the area, but Onana managed to block the ball.

It wasn’t until the final ten minutes that the game was played up and down, Inter could have decided the game, even Porto had chances to force extra time. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Denzel Dumfries kicked a goal kick.

Then the goal structure was twice against the home side, first Mehdi Taremi hit the bar, then Gjuric hit the crossbar. After AC Milan, they are the second Italian club to reach the quarter-finals of the competition, with Napoli still in the running for the title on Wednesday.
