Although Inter Milan did not win the Champions League, its presence in the most prestigious club competition in the world will provide it with an imaginary financial injection. And quite a significant one at that

The newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport describes the Nerazzurri’s balance sheet, or rather the positive economic impact of playing in the Champions League.

At the end of June last year, Inter posted a huge loss of 140 million euros. However, this will be drastically reduced thanks to the second place in the Champions League in the year just gone.

Specifically, Inter will receive around €100 million from UEFA for finishing second and losing the final.

For the tickets sold, Inter will collect around 40 million euros, with the Nerazzurri receiving a further four million euros from Paramount in sponsorship. It was this company that Inter had on their jerseys during the Champions League final.

The aforementioned well-known Italian website expects Inter’s revenue from the 2022/23 season to reach the €400 million mark for the first time in the club’s history.

This means that the reported loss on the balance sheet at the end of June 2023 should be between 70 and 80 million euros. Compared to last year, this is a substantial reduction and it can be said that the Champions League has provided Inter with a much-needed financial injection.

However, the financial situation in Italy is still not ideal. And also Inter will have to reduce their costs despite the big profit and, for example, will have to sell some of their mainstays. But Inter’s balance sheet is all the more respectable. In the last two years Simone Inzaghi and co. have won four trophies.
