Inter finds a replacement for Lukaku, plans to bring in two players
Romelu Lukaku’s transfer to Chelsea is almost complete. Inter Milan wasted no time and immediately decided to acquire a new striker. Or rather, strikers.
Romelu Lukaku’s transfer to Chelsea is almost complete. Inter Milan wasted no time and immediately decided to acquire a new striker. Or rather, strikers.
Replacing the Belgian giant, who scored 24 goals and assisted 9 more in the last Serie A season, will definitely not be easy. According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter are planning to bring in 2 players as replacements.
The first is Edin Džeko from AS Roma. Inter have already agreed on a two-year contract with Džeko, all that is left to do is to finalise the transfer fee. The 35-year-old striker has been linked with the reigning Italian league champion several times, but only now it looks like the transfer will actually happen.
The other striker Inter want to acquire is Atalanta’s Duván Zapata. The Colombian striker is having a good season in his current position, having contributed to 97 goals (66+31) in 130 games for the Bergamo side.
The aforementioned teams will logically look for replacements for their players. Atalanta have been linked with Tammy Abraham for some time now, but they will have a big competition in the form of Arsenal in the battle for the English striker. Moreover, Chelsea value their player at up to 40 million euros.
Another interesting name is Torino striker Andrea Belotti, who has been linked with both Roma and Atalanta. Belotti, who won the European title with Italy this year, has the last year left on his contract and reportedly has no plans to extend it, so Torino wants to sell the player this year. He would cost just under €20 million and will therefore be a noticeably cheaper option than Abraham.
Obviously, Romelu Lukaku’s departure will trigger a major domino effect in Serie A and make this year’s already quite interesting transfer window even more interesting.
