I’m still getting into it. But I’m not a robot, Van Dijk is looking forward to getting back on the pitch

Liverpool without Virgil van Dijk and with him are two completely different things, something that perhaps every Reds fan felt last season. However, the Dutch stopper is back and ready to help his teammates to great success once again.
And that has been the case right from the start, as Liverpool beat Norwich 3-0 in the opener and van Dijk was definitely one of the important players on the pitch.
“I’m still getting into it. But I wanted to play right from the first game because I felt I needed it to get better. There are a lot of things I need to work on, I’m not a robot,” van Dijk told Sky Sports after the game.
The Dutch defender has been standing since October last year. That’s a really long time that will change many footballers’ careers significantly. For the 30-year-old Breda native, however, it looks like he will be at least as good as he was before his injury.
Then again, van Dijk himself saw some flaws in himself. “I can’t be back in full form right away. I was tired because of all the events around the first game. But I have to get over it and then I believe it will come again. I’ll keep training, but I trust my knee. It’s been a tough road to get back, but I’m happy to be here.”
Van Dijk is undoubtedly an absolutely key stopper for Jürgen Klopp, but Liverpool brought in the even more talented Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig as a stopper before the season to increase the competition.
In the first game, however, the German coach trusted the experienced pair of van Dijk – Matip. This left only Joe Gomez on the bench, who has also suffered a long-term injury.
Therefore, we will see in which line-up the Reds will run out for the next match, in which they host Burnley. But after that, the real test will come in the form of Chelsea and also Leeds United.
