Gábor Boráros returns to the cage!
Gábor “Beast” Boráros is still the undisputed star of the domestic MMA scene. He was at the first steps of the biggest Czechoslovak MMA organization Oktagon, when he won the first part of the pyramid Oktagon Challenge. Thanks to it he built a strong fan base.
In his first years in the Oktagon, he picked up one win after another and was a terror to his opponents. It wasn’t until he lost a title fight to David Kozma, where he injured his knee, that his career changed.
He hasn’t studied his opponents too much, but he believes in his abilities
Since then, he has lost four out of six fights and in just a few days at Oktagon 35 in Brno he will try to restart his career again. His opponent will be a newcomer to the organization, a fighter quite unknown to the local scene, British James Lewis (7-4).
How does Gábor see his opponent and what are his next goals in case of victory? “I don’t know him (James Lewis) very well, first I have to watch a few of his fights,” said Gábor about his opponent on Oktagon Hype.
“Whatever it is, he will decide in the cage, ” the charismatic fighter knows. “I have to prepare well and if I’m 100% ready, it doesn’t matter who is on the other side,” he believes in his abilities not only in the next fight.
His dream is still the Octagon championship belt
“I don’t just want to do the next fight, I want to do the next fight,” he says. “I still want to win the championship belt, but I know it’s a long way to go,” he said of his dream to return to the top of the Octagon.
“It’s amazing how far the Octagon has come over the years, what a tremendous organization it has become,” he assessed the evolution of the organization that made him famous on the domestic fight scene. His fame was boosted by his participation in the world’s toughest reality show, Survivor.
“It was a very valuable lesson in my life,” he said of his time on the famous TV show. “It taught me how to communicate with people and how to work as a team,” he said, “and he was grateful for the experience, which gave him the opportunity to have an extraordinary experience.
Unfortunately, it ultimately meant another break in his fighting career, as he had to leave it due to another knee injury. Will the old “bestie” come back? We’ll find out on September 17th.
