I don’t want to be a footballer, Ramos would break my leg, joked a young Arsenal fan

Children are afraid of ghosts, heights, the dark and sometimes Sergio Ramos. The Spanish defender was mentioned by a young Arsenal fan in a conversation with Martin Odegaard. Although he has no chance of meeting the 37-year-old stopper in his career, he says he doesn’t want to be a professional footballer because of him.

Two young brothers and Arsenal fans had an online chat with Martin Odegaard, according to ESPN. The Arsenal captain chatted with them about his career, but also asked about the future prospects of the two youngsters.

When Odegaard got on the topic of professional footballer, he got a funny answer from one of the brothers, but the young Gunners fan obviously meant it judging by the expression on his face.

“When I grow up, I want to be an architect. I don’t want to be a footballer because I’m scared that maybe I’ll meet Sergio Ramos and he might break my leg,” said the younger sibling for lightweight brother Yahya.

The question is where the young football fan came to such a conclusion. According to available photos, he may be no more than nine years old and Ramos has not been nearly the butcher he was five or 10 years ago on the top stage in recent years.

Thus, the fear of Ramos probably stems from the image the Spanish stopper has developed during his career. The generation of fans at the age of Yahoo and his brother already know Ramos more from haircuts and articles.

The other possibility of the youngster’s opinion is the fresh experience of Ramos in the Champions League. In it, Arsenal met Sevilla and beat them twice. But Ramos didn’t make any of his typically brutal saves in 180 minutes.

It’s likely to be Sevilla related though. Two things in particular have been much discussed in the British Isles – that team’s triumphs in the Europa League and the return of Ramos, who has played several times in England in the Champions League.
