The big problem for Tottenham is in the world. Several players of the A-team are infected with coronavirus, 6 players and 2 members of the management team. However, the regulations apparently won’t allow Spurs to postpone games.

Tottenham fans were in high spirits on Sunday. Their darlings managed to win 3:0 against Norwich, and there were voices that Antonio Conte’s handwriting was finally starting to be felt.

But the joy lasted a few days and there are worries again. As many as six players have tested positive for Covid, Spurs are still waiting for the results of PCR tests to confirm the prevalence of the problem. Until then, they have refused to comment on the whole situation.

Anyone who tests positive for Covid must spend 10 days in self-isolation under government regulations. That means infected players will miss Tottenham’s next three games. Rennes come to Tottenham Stadium on Thursday, Kane and co. travel to Brighton on Sunday and face Leicester on Thursday. They then welcome Liverpool on the weekend.

Tottenham play Rennes in the Conference League on Thursday, promotion from first place and therefore straight into the eighth-finals is already in the bag. Spurs, however, must also fight for second place and therefore qualification to the 1/16 finals of the competition. They are currently in second place and have the same number of points as Vitesse (7). However, they will probably face last-placed Moura at home, leaving Spurs to beat first-placed Rennes.

But UEFA regulations will not allow Tottenham to postpone the match. The match would only be in jeopardy if the team had less than 13 players or no goalkeeper available. But Spurs apparently have more players in their squad, so the match will not be able to be postponed.

And it is similar in the Premier League. No match can be postponed if the team has at least 14 players available.

So Conte is in for a tough slog and will have to deal with a pretty decimated squad. However, if Spurs can manage the next 10 days, it could give them a big boost for the rest of the season.
