New Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard thinks he has the quality to do great things and surprise all opponents. He believes he can take the team to the European stage.
Steven Gerrard is very honoured to become the manager of the team that is Aston Villa. He is happy about his new position and he is not hiding it. In his first press conference, he spoke about his long-term plans for the club.
The new manager of Aston Villa believes that the team is of sufficient quality to qualify for the European Cups in the near future. It is definitely not a short-term plan, but the Liverpool legend believes he can do it.
Currently, Aston Villa are in 16th place in the Premier League, which is closer to the relegation zone than to the positions that ensure qualification for Europe.
They will play their next three games against Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Leicester City, not an easy draw for Gerrard’s new squad. Let’s see how the former Rangers manager handles these opponents. The most interesting duel, however, will not be until Gerrard’s fourth game on the Villa bench.
On the eleventh of December, Steven Gerrard and his squad will travel to Anfield Road to take on Liverpool, where he is considered a legend by all fans. After all, he played 710 games for the Reds.
However, in his first press conference, he did not wish to talk about this match. He said that he wished to address his team, which is Aston Villa. The Liverpool game is a long time away, so he had no reason to discuss it.
”Liverpool means a lot to me, but we shouldn’t focus on that now. I’m thinking about Aston Villa. I became their manager and I’m proud of that. I can promise the fans that the success of this club will be my first priority.”
I’m sure we can look forward to a very tense game. The fans will be happy to welcome their former captain to Anfield Road, but they won’t wish him victory. The game is coming up and we can look forward to it.
