How important it is to have Pavlenka! Bremen wins seventh game in a row and heads back to the elite
Werder Bremen are one of the biggest and most traditional clubs in Germany, but now only play in the second league. Moreover, the season did not start very well and Jiří Pavlenka was missing in goal for a good part of the season. Since his return to the three poles, however, everything is going well and his return to the elite looks promising.

The North German team is not having a good summer. The bad seasons culminated in relegation to the second league. For a while it seemed that the return to the elite would not be as quick as the fans had hoped.
Werder did not start the season well in the second league. They won only four of their first eleven games and then lost four, three of them by three goals.
Moreover, Jiri Pavlenka missed the start of the season because he was injured. However, even after his recovery he played the role of number two for some time, which was not very understandable. Although Michael Zetterer is not a bad goalkeeper, he won’t make a difference compared to the Baník Ostrava alumnus.
The fact that Pavlenka still hasn’t signed a contract may have played a role in why he didn’t catch. His current one expires in the summer. There’s not much talk of a new one. However, the poor results must have caused the change and the return of the Czech Republic representative to the goal.
Since the 29-year-old Hlučín native first got in goal, Bremen have scored fewer goals, are more confident and when they are not doing well, which is not very often, Pavlenka is there to support them.
Werder have undergone a huge transformation. That’s why Pavlenka’s role is so important. He has kept only two clean sheets in 11 games, but has only conceded 13 goals.
With Pavlenko between the three sticks, Bremen lost only once, but won eight times. They are now on a streak of seven wins in a row and have risen from the middle of the table to the top.
They currently lead the second league with 41 points from 22 games. Second-placed Darmstadt, who have 39 points, have an extra match to play. The front of the table is very even overall, with sixth-placed Heidenheim, who also have a match to play, on 37 points.
Bremen must therefore maintain their good form. But Werder fans can finally get their hopes up. After a disappointing start to the season, it’s at least starting to look like a return to the elite might not be science fiction.
Third-placed St. Pauli, fourth-placed Hamburg and fifth-placed Schalke are still in contention for promotion. It’s going to be an interesting spring season.
