Petr Reinberk had the first chance of the match fifteen seconds after the kick-off, but missed the goal. The opening was very combative, in the 11th minute a shot from the visiting John Guidetti missed the back post by just a few centimetres.
But Slovácko was slightly more active and took the lead in the 28th minute. Daniel Holzer cleverly stretched the ball and found Milan Petržela, who had an easy job. The Moravians were spurred on by the home fans and six minutes later Reinberk headed narrowly over.
Perhaps surprisingly, the experienced Swedish team was under pressure, and in the 44th minute, the active Petržela fired a shot that rang off the crossbar. Slovácko went into the booths with a well-deserved 1:0 lead.
The winner of the last edition of the MOL Cup continued in a good pace even after the change of sides. Petržela tried an inaccurate cross shot in the 48th minute, a minute later the same player was pulled down in the whitewash, but the referee did not notice.
Subsequently, goalkeepers on both sides dealt with attempts by Marek Havlik and Nicolás Marcel Stefanelli respectively. Slovácko continued to dominate, scoring out of nowhere in the 73rd minute, but the linesman signalled offside to the head coach immediately after the goal.
In the 78th minute, a regular goal was scored. Michal Kohút found Vasiliy Sinyavskiy in front of an empty net and he had an easy job. And two minutes later it was three. Reinberk’s centre was knocked into his own net by the visiting goalkeeper.
In the end, the guests had no more strength to react, while Slovácko still had a couple of chances. Michal Kohút almost scored his own goal in the last minute of the setup, but Filip Nguyen solved the situation and the Moravians won 3:0.
