Hero Piqué! Barcelona can sign reinforcements thanks to a drastic reduction in his wages

Gerard Pique is the new hero of Barcelona football! It’s no secret that the Catalan big club is in a financial crisis, so it couldn’t register new reinforcements. However, the experienced stopper agreed to a drastic salary cut, demonstrating incredible loyalty.

Barcelona did not strengthen much in the summer, nor did they have the money to do so. However, it got Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Agüero for free. But none of them were allowed to be registered.

The Catalan giant was unable to fit into the salary cap. This is also why Lionel Messi had to end up at the club, agreeing to a drastic pay cut. Even without him, Barcelona could hardly meet the financial requirements of La Liga.

But the club has now been helped by Gerard Pique, a stalwart of Barcelona’s defensive line. He has taken a drastic pay cut, according to some media reports he has had up to 80% of his wages taken away.

Thanks to Pique’s kindness Barcelona could register at least three new signings, namely Depay, Garcia and Rey Manaj. Agüero is out for a longer period of time, hence the Catalan giant still has some time to make room under the salary cap.

The information was published directly by the club on their platforms. However, they are still in talks with other players to agree to a pay cut. Barcelona are asking the leaders of their cabinet, namely Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, to emulate Pique.

“It should be noted that both players are perfectly willing to cooperate,” a club statement said.

In any case, Barcelona is going to have an interesting season, and not only from a sporting point of view.
