Goalkeeper Tomáš Vaclík is without a contract after finishing his career in the English second league Huddersfield. There were speculations about his return to Sparta Prague or Plzeň, but he will stay abroad. And he will definitely have a lot to choose from.
When Vaclik left England, it was often written that he could strengthen Sparta. The latter had long been pursuing Matej Kovar, who was a guest of Manchester United, but in the end the young Moravian goalkeeper was too expensive for the team.
Instead of Vaclik, however, the club from Letná focused on Peter Vindahl from Dutch Alkmaar, who is currently Sparta’s number one. And as it seems so far, the club from the capital probably made the right choice.
Then the word started to spread about Viktoria Plzen, Vaclik was even spotted at the West Bohemians’ stadium. But as he later said, it was nothing, the reason for his visit to Štruncové sady was his friend Jindřich Staněk, the Viktoria number one, with whom they watched the match against Hradec Králové together.
Vaclik was able to move to the German Bundesliga, where the traditional 1. FC Köln were interested in him. However, the Czech international would probably only play the role of a number two there and he did not want to do that at all, so he politely declined the offer.
Subsequently, there were speculations that the goalkeeper could return to Spain, where he had already played for Sevilla in the past. Three second division clubs, namely Elche, Albacete and Cartagena, are interested in his services.
But now it looks like Vaclik could head to a European club once more at the end of his career. According to inFotball, the Czech goalkeeper is wanted by the famous Lazio Rome.
Lazio is looking for a new goalkeeper and Vaclik is on the list of selected reinforcements along with several other goalkeepers. Another interested player is the Belgian Club Bruggy.
On the other hand, where Vaclik will definitely not be moving to is Saudi Arabia. Al-Raed was interested in the former Spartan, but the Czech footballer rejected the move, saying that his family, who does not want to get used to life in Saudi Arabia, will decide on his transfer.
