He sent Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr to the Asian Champions League with two goals. But he probably won’t play in the competition because of the rules!
Anderson Talisca has been one of Al-Nassr’s top scorers in recent years. He also shone in yesterday’s Asian Champions League qualifier when he scored two goals to ensure his team’s progression. Still, he may not feature in the competition.

Talisca sent Al-Nassr into the Asian Champions League group stage with two goals
He has been the club’s top scorer for the past two seasons and continues his goalscoring form this season. In yesterday’s game, he shot Al-Nassr through to the Asian Champions League, but is unlikely to play the competition.
The qualifying round for the Asian AFC Champions League was held yesterday. The star-studded Al-Nassr probably attracted the most attention as they took on Dubai’s Al-Ahli.
The Saudi Arabian club’s line-up was, of course, not lacking the club’s biggest stars. Thus, alongside the star Cristiano Ronaldo, the club’s biggest summer transfer Sadio Mané was in the starting line-up, under which Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic operated.
But the hero of the evening was Anderson Talisca. The latter opened the scoring in the tenth minute when he headed straight through from a corner kick. But the opponent did not give up, first equalizing a few minutes later and then turning the game around shortly after the change of sides.
For a long time it looked like Al-Nassr would say goodbye to the competition in the qualifying match. However, a final flurry of goals sent the team around Cristiano Ronaldo into the group stage.
Al Ghannam equalised two minutes before the end of regulation time, only for Talisca to score again in injury time. He sent his team into the lead with his second header, which was confirmed at the very end by Brozovic.
However, he is unlikely to play in the competition due to the rule on the number of foreigners in the team
Al-Nassr will thus look to the group stage of the Asian Champions League, but the star of last night’s game may not. Talisca is likely to fall foul of the AFC Champions League rule that allows clubs to register only five foreigners.
And according to the information available, the club prefers the five of Ronaldo, Mané, Brozovic, Fofana and Telles. That would mean that while the club’s top scorer in recent years could feature in the domestic league, he would not be able to hit the Champions League.
The club are reportedly already discussing his departure despite signing a new contract in April. There have already been some negotiations with Besiktas Istanbul, but the Turkish club have not agreed to the player’s financial demands.
That would be a big blow for the fans who have grown to love the 29-year-old Brazilian. In fact, Talisca, who joined the club two years ago from Chinese side Guangzhou, has scored 44 goals in 67 games in all competitions and added eight assists.
He has been showing great form so far this year as well, scoring three goals and two assists in eight games and is regularly one of the team’s top scorers. How will Al-Nassr deal with a complicated situation?
