Has Liverpool found a new coach? The famous English club has been searching for an adequate replacement since the announcement of Jürgen Klopp’s departure, and based on recent reports, they have already found one. Ruben Amorim is expected to move to Anfield Road from Sporting Lisbon.
Ruben Amorim as a replacement for Jürgen Klopp? According to the latest reports, this option is a little closer to reality again than in the past weeks. Indeed, Sky Sports reports that the current Sporting Lisbon coach has reached a verbal agreement with the Anfield Road-based club.
As far as the specific terms are concerned, Amorim was supposed to agree with the management of the famous English club on a three-year contract, i.e. until 2027.
However, Merseyside sources have so far tamed all expectations and speculations about a new contract, although the validity of the latest reports has been confirmed by journalist Florian Plettenberg.
But he also adds that many more steps remain to be taken to complete the deal, the whole deal could still fall through.
Needless to say, Amorim figured in the shortlist of candidates also on Bayern Munich’s list. The Bavarian giant is in fact parting ways with coach Thomas Tuchel after the season, whereupon Amorim is still one of the candidates for his place.
Liverpool then focused on the thirty-nine-year-old coach especially after Xabi Alonso definitively confirmed his stay at Leverkusen.
Needless to say, Amorim is already a very positively rated coach. In fact, he led Sporting Lisbon to the championship title in 2021. Moreover, in the current edition of the Portuguese top flight, Sporting is also top of the table with 71 points.
Finally, it is worth noting that Amorim has an exit clause of £17 million, or just under €20 million, in his contract.
