On Tuesday, we can look forward to the opening two quarterfinal matches of the Australian Open. One of them will be a duel between Dimitrov and Karatsev. Who will be happy to advance?
Grigor Dimitrov hasn’t lost a set in the Australian Open so far. He also managed to beat Dominic Thiem on the Melbourne courts.
The twenty-nine-year-old Bulgarian tennis player, who was the third best player on the ATP ranking, is currently showing very good performances. At the same time, he is known for his game lapses, which are quite frequent.
His opponent on Tuesday will be Aslan Karatsev. For the Russian tennis player, this is his first ever appearance at a Grand Slam tournament at the age of 27.
In 2021, Karatsev has never known the bitterness of defeat. He successfully passed through the qualification and then in the main stage of the tournament he dealt with Schwartzman or Auger-Aliassime. He continued his good performance from the end of the previous year.
So what to bet on? The paper favourite is Grigor Dimitrov, but the Russian-born tennis player is in the form of his life. Personally, I expect a very even match.
In Sunday’s match Karatsev confirmed that he is very well prepared mentally. Against the Canadian youngster he managed to turn around a match in which he was already down 0:2.
There is a high probability that the 114th man in the ATP rankings will play at least one set against Dimitrov. You can bet on it at odds of 1.37.
In the semi-finals, the winner of the clash to be played at Rod Laver Arena will be the better of the Djokovic-Zverev pair.
