Václav Černý had a very controversial last season. He had great performances, great numbers, but he got seriously injured. He was out for a long time, but now he’s back!

The skilful winger has long been perceived as a great talent in the eyes of the Czech football public. After all, he went through the famous academy of Ajax Amsterdam. However, due to injuries, he has not been able to permanently break into the squad.

In the summer of 2019, he left for Utrecht, where he wanted to establish himself in the first league. However, Václav Černý did not get as much space in the team as he probably expected. After a year, he went on loan to the famous Twente.

This turned out to be a very good move. The club’s management showed him maximum support and trust, they knew what kind of player they were bringing. And it could be seen in the Czech footballer’s performance.

After all, last season Cerny played 17 competitive matches, in which he scored 6 goals and added 7 assists. He got into the national team form, played outstandingly.

But everything was ruined by a knee injury, which knocked the technical footballer out of the game for a long time. Cerny suffered the injury on 14 January when Twente played against Ajax.

There was a lot of talk about whether Twente would keep Cerny in their team permanently. In the end it happened, the Enschede club was very interested in keeping such a talented player in their squad. They supported him all the time during his injury.

But now Cerny is back. On Wednesday he had his first training session on the pitch, 8 months long since his surgery. But he’s got an uphill battle ahead of him. He will have to fight for his place in Twente and he can definitely win back his place in the national team.
