Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract with Liverpool. The Egyptian international had one more year left on his contract at Anfield, but there were fears that he would leave the club after Sadio Mané. So he has signed a new three-year deal with the Reds.
After eighteen months of constant speculation, the club announced that the Egyptian has signed a new contract on Merseyside.
Salah, who won the King of Scorers crown last season and was also the club’s top passer, was previously under contract until 2023. The new deal will keep him at Liverpool until 2025 and will make him the highest paid player in the club’s history with a salary in excess of £350,000 a week.
“I feel great and I’m excited to win more trophies with the club. Today is great for everyone,” Salah said in an interview with the club’s website.
“I think the extension took a bit longer, but now everything is done, so we just have to focus on what’s next,” he added.
Liverpool had several other successes in the past season – the English giants dominated the FA Cup and the League Cup, and fought to the last moment for the Premier League title, but finished the 2021/22 season in second place behind Manchester City. The Reds also reached the Champions League final, but lost to Real Madrid.
As for the Egyptian star’s individual stats, she has scored 156 goals in 254 games since her arrival from Roma in 2017.
He has lifted perhaps every available trophy above his head during that time, including the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
