Good news for the coefficient: the Ukrainians and Danes are close to destruction, while the Greeks have four teams in the groups
Three Czech teams in the group are a success, but we still need to keep scoring points. The Czechs are eighteenth so far, but the opponents ahead of us have been dropping out. How did the Norwegians, Ukrainians, Danes, Greeks and Israelis do?
The European Cups know their participants and the matches of the week obviously affected the coefficients of the countries. How did the Norwegians, Ukrainians, Danes, Greeks and Israelis do?
The Czechs were most pleased with Ukraine, if we don’t count the troubles of Slavia. Although the latter knocked out Zorya Luhansk, by losing in Lublin it gave the opponent country a point in the coefficient and lost it itself.
Otherwise, Dynamo Kiev, which also lost to Besiktas Istanbul in the rematch, was pleased to be eliminated. Dnipro took the game with Spartak Trnava to extra time, but got two red cards and cashed in, and the Slovaks go into the ECL group.
From Ukraine, only Shakhtar Donetsk will be in the Champions League and Zorya in the Conference League. It is the Greeks who are unfortunately celebrating more success, with four representatives going into the group – Panathinaikos and AEK Athens plus Olympiakos and PAOK Thessaloniki.
The Athenian sides are facing EL after dropping out of the Champions League play-offs, Olympiakos too, having also managed a rematch with Serbia’s Curacaci with a win. The conference league will kick off with PAOK, who ran over Scottish Hearts 4-0 in the rematch.
Half the satisfaction is in Denmark. Copenhagen is in the Champions League and Nordsjaelland won the rematch with the favoured Partizan Belgrade and will play the Conference League. Midtjylland fell on penalties to Legia Warsaw.
The Norwegians were a bit unlucky when Brann lost on penalties to Alkmaar and failed to qualify for the Conference League. Bodo Glimt, on the other hand, managed an extra time loss to Sepsi at home in the same competition. Molde were relegated from the Champions League to the Europa League group.
Finally, Israel. He has Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League after losing in the Champions League playoffs to Young Boys Bern. Maccabi Tel Aviv are through to the Conference League, they only needed a draw in Slovenia with Celje.
