The Bayern Munich goalkeeper recently announced that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer on his face, for which he has already undergone three operations.
The German international admitted his health problems during an advertisement for skin care products in which he works with the famous former tennis player Angelique Kerber. However, Neuer did not disclose any further details, including when he underwent these surgeries.
Apart from his words, however, the scar on his nose also gave him away, which the 36-year-old goalkeeper confirmed himself in connection with the operations.
Neuer’s statement
“We both have a personal history of skin diseases. In my case, it is skin cancer on my face, which I had to have three operations for,” said Neuer, who was quoted by Goal.
“We have therefore paid special attention to not compromising on sun protection anymore, because I am always training outdoors and I also like to spend my free time in nature,” the Bayern Munich legend added.
In addition, Neuer is nursing a shoulder injury he suffered in a match against Borussia Dortmund in early October.
The match in the ninth round of the German top flight ended 2-2, with Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sané scoring for Bayern. It is not yet certain when Neuer will return to the Munich club, but Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said he should be able to make Saturday’s game at Hertha Berlin.
German fans do not have to worry about the national team’s number one missing the World Cup in Qatar, which starts on November 20, due to injury.
