Chelsea are only eleventh in the Premier League table with 39 points. The team was not helped by the return of Frank Lampard, who took over as head coach until the end of the current season.
Brighton, on the other hand, are having a dream season, Robert De Zerbi’s team can be found in seventh place. So the Seagulls will definitely still be fighting for places guaranteeing participation in the European Cup.
Chelsea entered the match at Stamford Bridge with the better of the two sides, taking a 1-0 lead in the thirteenth minute thanks to a Conor Gallagher shot. Brighton were clearly the better team, however, and they were able to capitalise.
The equaliser came before the end of the first half, in the 42nd minute Welbeck found the ball and with a precise header gave Kepa no chance. The English striker was only on the pitch for three minutes.
The visitors added a second goal in the 69th minute. Nineteen-year-old Julio Enciso got to the ball and from about 25 yards sent an unstoppable shot into the top left corner of the Spanish goal. See for yourself.
It was only Julio Enciso’s second goal for Brighton. The first one was two weeks ago, when he scored in Bournemouth’s net in the 91st minute to make it 2-0.
His goal in the Chelsea net will definitely be one of the best of the season. Moreover, it was a very important goal that brought Brighton closer to the European Cup again.
