Jake Paul has another game to play. This weekend, he will face a professional boxer who also has an established professional boxing record for the first time ever at Madison Square Garden. Should the popular YouTuber manage to win, he could begin his quest to win titles.

Jake Paul is a popular youtuber, but has been struggling to make it in the combat sports scene for the past few years. In 2020, he entered the world of boxing, first defeating the youtuber known as AnEsonGib and former NBA quarterback Nate Robinson.

Paul quickly made his mark in the memories of combat sports fans. For example, he spoke harshly about the UFC and its boss Dana White. But no one took him too seriously. The reason was simple. He didn’t have a proper opponent.

But then he got some interesting challenges. First he was to be tested by Ben Askren, a UFC fighter and former Bellator or ONE Championship champion. However, he showed that his MMA career was definitely not made famous by great boxing and was knocked out in the first round.

A big test was about to come in the form of Tyron Woodley, a former UFC champion. But he lost on points. To make matters worse, he earned his rematch. He was knocked out in that one, but unlike Askren, not until the sixth round.

Fury failed, but he’s facing a more experienced opponent

Now Paul was to face Tommy Fury, brother of the famous Tyson Fury. But first the fight was cancelled due to an injury to the Englishman, then he was not allowed to enter the USA. So the popular YouTuber is facing a different challenge.

On August 6, Paul will face Hasim Rahman Jr., who now has a professional record of 12 wins (6 KOs) and 1 loss. It will be the first opponent who is a professional boxer. So an interesting test.

“A win in this fight would earn Jake a spot in the WBC rankings,” promises WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman.

If Paul actually succeeds and fights his way into the top 15 of the cruiserweight world rankings, for example, he could fight for the world championship belt. He has previously let it be known that this is his goal. So now he can begin the journey to achieving it.
