The summer period in football is always marked by waiting for interesting transfers. And this year, Eintracht Frankfurt fans are in for a treat. Mario Götze, a 30-year-old forward with national team experience, is heading to the team. He has signed a contract until 2025.

Götze started his football career with SV Ronsberg, and in 2001, at the age of nine, he moved to Borussia Dortmund’s academy. He subsequently spent twelve years at BVB before Bayern Munich snapped him up on a transfer.

However, Götze soon returned home from the German giant. At Dortmund, the holder of 67 national team starts played 4 more years between 2016 and 2020. It was in 2020 that he left Germany for the first time in his life. He played two seasons for PSV Eindhoven.

Now he moves to a team that will play the millionaire Champions League next season. Oliver Glasner’s charges qualified for the battle for the Eared Cup by winning the Europa League. And the German striker could use his experience to help Eintracht to a good result.

Götze played 29 league games last season with a 4+4 record. He had good numbers in the European Cups. PSV Eindhoven played all three European competitions this season, the Champions League qualification, the Europa League group stage and the Conference League play-offs.

The transfer of the 30-year-old German is one of the biggest surprises of this year’s transfer window in Germany so far.

However, if the speculation about Sadio Mané’s arrival at Bayern is confirmed, it will probably not be the best transfer of the summer for Eintracht Frankfurt.
