Mayweather vs. Paul
Lately, we’ve been seeing some bizarre spectacles in which people from outside the boxing business enter the ring. The most famous representatives of these exhibitions have turned out to be the Paul brothers, who are known as successful YouTubers.
Last summer, a boxing exhibition was held between the highest-earning boxer in history, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and the older of the youtubers, Logan Paul. Mayweather and Paul clashed last summer in an eight-round exhibition that took place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The aforementioned bout seemed like a misplaced joke in martial arts terms. Floyd Mayweather, who is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the boxer with the most professional fights without defeat, may not have broken a sweat.
Moreover, a video of the fight was later leaked to the public, with Paul clearly in trouble, stopping the world champion from stepping on the pedal so much.
Mayweather responds to Paul on debt allegations
As we recently informed you, the younger of the brothers, Jake Paul, complained on social media that Logan has yet to see a dollar from Mayweather and threatened the boxer with a lawsuit. Mayweather gave an interview on The Pivot podcast in which he literally laughed at the young YouTuber.
“The PPV money comes in from different countries at different times,” he reported on how the payouts from these fights work. “I myself have yet to get paid from matches that took place seven or eight years ago,” he explained.
Mayweather was putting the lie to the youtuber’s claim that Logan had already been paid a certain amount. Let’s face it, the American boxer was the main draw that increased the number of rights sold in the first place.
“The kid should shut up and enjoy the biggest paycheck of his life,” the young YouTuber lamented as he brushed off the table.
Mayweather, who is considered one of the richest athletes ever, was due to return to the ring this weekend against a 20-year-old YouTube star called “Money Kicks”. But the bout was called off after negotiations stalled for unknown reasons. In terms of the duel’s appeal, though, we probably don’t have to be too sad.
Mayweather met MMA star Conor McGregor in the boxing ring prior to his showdown with Paul, which was a spectacle viewers wanted to see. However, duels like the ones with the Youtubers are more likely to hurt the boxing ring star.
That in particular, however, may not exactly bother his wallet twice. You can write in the comments which fighter you would like to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. against.
