Finally a challenge! Will Vémola silence his critics?
After winning the welterweight belt, Karlos Vémola has challenged a real killer and he really wants to move up to heavyweight! Will that be enough for his critics?
After winning the welterweight belt, Karlos Vémola has challenged a real killer and he really wants to move up to heavyweight! Will that be enough for his critics?
The haters are not leaving a dry thread on Vémola
You either love him or you hate him. But it definitely has to be said that Karlos Vémola is making the biggest noise in the domestic fight scene. Even though he’s only lost one fight in the last six years, the Fight of the Century to Attila Vegh, there are still many who don’t respect his fighting skills.
Many “fans” and rivals label him as a man who picks and chooses his opponents and his employer, the Octagon, just throws him fodder in the form of tailor-made opponents. Although the wrestler himself keeps repeating that he fights whoever the promoters throw at him, the wave of haters keeps getting bigger.
In particular, his last fight for the Octagon welterweight title generated a lot of emotion. His opponent was Serbian Aleksandar Ilic, who fights mostly at middleweight and his strength is in his stand-up.
Thus, before the fight, fans were calling the title fight a fake and predicting a clear-cut match. This was subsequently confirmed when Vemola threw the Serb to the floor and forced him to tap out there in the first round.
Will Vémola silence his critics with a new challenge?
Already after winning the title in Prague’s Štvanica, the Czech Terminator said that he will definitely not choose his opponent. And to silence his critics, he wants to dominate three weight classes in the Octagon.
He already has the welterweight championship belt at home. He wants to fight for the middleweight title at the end of the year, ideally in a rematch against Patrik Kinclova, if he can defend it against the unpleasant Lohore in September.
Now he has presented a challenge that will hopefully silence his critics. “I’m the king of the Octagon, if people don’t believe me, I’ll go to heavyweight,” Vémola revealed his plans on “Oktagon Hype.
The host of the show brought up the name of Hatef Moeil, who was featured at June’s Oktagon 33 in Frankfurt, Germany. The 120 kg fighter hasn’t been defeated in four years and is certainly not a fighter who doesn’t command respect.
“I believe he is the number one in Germany,” Vémola said of his potential opponent. “There will be another tournament in Germany in October, he’s the biggest fighter in the division, he’s tougher, he definitely commands respect,” he expressed his desire to prove himself to the German fans again.
“I’ll fight him, if people think I’m picking my opponent, who’s worse than a 120 kg dude who destroys one opponent after another,” he tried to silence his critics with a new challenge.
It’s up to the promoters and the potential opponent to decide how the fight turns out. The next few weeks will surely tell us more.
