Christian Eriksen is still an Inter Milan player. But he will definitely not be playing for them anymore. However, the club will not prevent him from moving to another competition where his football career could continue.
The very first match of the summer European Championship offered a very tragic and frightening moment. Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during the game when his heart failed. Fortunately, doctors were able to save him.
The Danish footballer is still recovering. Understandably, he would like to return to football, but he is out of luck in Italy at least.
During the operation, after being taken to hospital, he was given a machine to check his heart rhythm. Such devices are not allowed in Italy.
Since then, there has been a lot of talk about what will happen to Eriksen’s career. But one thing is becoming certain. He will not continue at Inter Milan. That’s what a new club statement has indicated.
“The player is temporarily banned from active sport for this season by the Italian health authorities. Although his current condition does not meet the condition to be able to play sport in Italy, he could continue his career in other countries,” the club statement reads.
One possible destination where Eriksen could anchor is Ajax Amsterdam, where he has already played in the past. Daley Blind, a former Manchester United player, is playing with a similar set-up to him in the Dutch team’s jersey.
For the already packed Ajax squad, this could be a very interesting reinforcement.
