Long-time Bayern Munich mainstay Jerome Boateng left the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season and headed to France to play for Olympique Lyon.
However, he is currently thinking about something else entirely than how he will stop strikers in Ligue 1. In fact, he will appear in court in Munich on Thursday 9 September, testifying due to an accusation from the mother of his children, who has sued Boateng for domestic violence, offences to be traced back to 2018.
The trial has been delayed a bit, but Boateng is expected to appear in Munich during Thursday, according to his lawyer.
The star stopper’s former partner accused him of brutally beating her on holiday three years ago. The maximum penalty for offences of this kind is up to five years in prison. The sentence could be handed down as early as Thursday.
Lyon will play Sparta first at Letná on October 21, with the rematch scheduled for November 4 at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
